Interesting video. I agree that our classrooms need a drastic makeover in order to, not only be able to compete with other countries that are progressing much faster than us, but also in order to continue with the amazing advances we have made within the past couple decades. Nice job.

I think that's pretty clearly acknowledged. Although, in my defense, when I made this video several years ago all Karl Fisch had was a powerpoint. I wanted something more free standing so I made the movie.

I've been interested in becoming a business owner and I have a question for you: Where do I start? Am I required to go to college? If so, what kind?
hamersmashdface1  2008-06-29
I really hate school because I was forced to sit and study the anatomy of an earthworm, art, poetry, and other things I can do in my own time if I wanted to. They don't even let us talk about the war in Iraq. Also, I had teachers who would put me down telling me that I will never succeed they would spit their opinions at me as facts. Do you think I will get hired at a job if I graduate from a continuation high school? please write back.

That is a reality that INTERNATIONAL KNOWLEDGE ASSISTANCE is trying to highlight in Latin America. Community leaders and educators receive seminars dedicated to improve educational programs in rural areas of Ecuador. The Foundation's goal is to prepare children with the latest technologies for the demand of the modern world. The education levels in the rural communities around the world are behind those of the better-funded schools, this puts rural students at a distinct disadvantage.

that was a ...deep thought

It depends of parents preparation. But I think kids relate a lot at school and even if the parents would not be prepare, they do at school an d if they are curious it is ok.Well, you know fortune is important as well.

Reccomended Reading: John Taylor gatto - The Underground History of American Education Charlotte T. Iserbyt - Dumbing us down Check your local library. Especially for the John Taylor Gatto book. It's not an accident that we're being forced into an education which prepares us for low-paying, unenlightening jobs.

Hate that the english language by this;, a knowing person is in englsih called educated, Does tha mean that all educated persons are genioses?; does that mean that there are no non-educated person who are geniuses? just as if education would be a criteria for being smart. It could also be a criteria for being an idiot; being overwhelmingly subservient to the society with no independent thinking.

Although I do believe incorporation technology into our schools today is a fundamental part of our growing educational needs. I do not believe it is the principal issue that needs to be tackled. It is the removal of rote learning and the incorporation of creative and interactive class discussion which should be the principal concern of educational reformists. How can technology help if all we are taught is to regurgitate information.

Talented teachers cannot be substituted with some fancy tech gadgets. I'm all for improving the education of information technology, but it's not just handing students laptops, and saying: edit some wiki article about this and this. Even big IT companies use blackboards for brainstorming. The emphasis should be on small-group classes, interactive lectures (high student involvement) and well prepared teachers.

Perhaps focus on spiritual education as well, as apposed to just scientific and academic studies? I think wholesome education is as important as specialization - Quality wholesome education and early specialization is a good head start, however this may not happen without compassion and wisdom.

If we never made new technologyy and made our lives so compicated with it. we woulnt have to go to school for soooooooo long just to figure out our compicated lives.Every year kids have to be smarter and smarter to figure out the world. But do we really need to? Think about it.
